**True North Trout** in Kalkaska, Michigan, is excited to announce an **Introduction to Fly Fishing Camp** on August 1 & 2, 2025, set against the picturesque backdrop of the Upper Manistee River. This immersive two-day camp is perfect for those with a basic understanding of fishing and the outdoors, looking to deepen their skills and knowledge of Fly Fishing. Join your host instructors, Brian Kozminski (MVWTU) and Jon Chizmadia (KVTU) as they share their years of experience on the rivers to help you shorten the learning curve.

– **Introduction to Stream Macroinvertebrates**: Learn about the tiny creatures that inhabit our rivers and their importance in the ecosystem.
– **How to Read a River**: Gain insights into understanding river currents, structures, and the best spots to fish.
– **Casting for Beginners and How to Improve Casting**: Whether you’re new to fly fishing or looking to refine your technique, our experts will guide you through the essentials.

– **Basic Fly Tying**: Get hands-on experience in tying your own flies.
– **Miscellaneous Topics**: Covering a range of additional tips and tricks to enhance your fly fishing experience.

– **Lunch Provided**: Enjoy a delicious lunch on both days, included with your camp registration.
– **Overnight Accommodations**: Attendees are responsible for their own accommodations. Nearby camping is available at CCC Campground. Participants encouraged to bring their own gear, or use a rod provided, (this gives us a chance to make sure you are properly equipped- and go fishing on your own in evening)

Besides gaining knowledge of the many aspects of the river and how trout behave, act and feed, you will also have a great opportunity to network with other anglers who have similar questions and experiences you may have. This is far beyond a guided trip and will impact your outlook on the sport for years to come. We recommend anyone who is younger than 17 to be accompanied by paying adult. Minimum age is 12 years old.
